winter – Selected haiku

cat finds no ghosts in 
humidifier’s mist but
remains vigilant

two cats, enjoying
sunshine and the flavor of
the new sheer curtains

unimpressed by snow,
tortoiseshell cat serves looks cold-
-er than winter storm

suspicious and then
disappointed by our wet
offering, Kyp left

before I return
home, borrowing dad’s router
for lithograph frames

late, or quite early,
Christmas tree finished journey
from Indiana

seizing this warm day:
applying polyure-
-thane in my parents’ garage

dead leaves decompose
on too-warm earth over Great
Falls, under cute dogs
