walked into lake
zero times, and into trees
only once. success!

walking club steps out
again, this time towards great
gelato, sorbet

my cuts. what a dad!

To celebrate the first day of summer, here is a haiku about my parents’ basement.

recycling parts of
Box Mountain: not mountaintop
removal, better.

Actual mountaintop removal is horrible!

today: vines sucking
the life out of some poor tree
rooted near Lake Anne

saw chipmunk—so cute! 
—pulled phone from bag, but alas,
it had run away

bee drinking nectar,
gathering pollen for friends
back at the beehive

geese seeking berries 
to be converted into 
waste we’ll step over

little spider on
spider plant; a fitting home
far away from cats
